Powers and Guilds Powers are abilities that you gain in the Vampires! A Dark Alleyway game through questing. They each do different things – some enable you to steal from other vampires, to spot hunters, or to gain more action points (AP). Some powers have several levels to be gained, but others have only one. Neutrality, Battlecloak and Locate 3 are not required for fully powered status. In order to get a power, you must first go to a guild location. These locations are scheduled to move to a random location in the city. Visit A View In The Dark for the latest location of the guilds and also when they are set to move again. You’ll need to make note of how long it will take you to get to the guild you need to visit – it might be best to wait until right after they move to begin your quest. Guilds are numbered, and leveled powers can only be found at the guild with the corresponding number. For example, if you want to get Thievery 1 you can only get it from the Thieves Guild 1, not at Thieves Guild 3. You cannot skip any levels. Powers are essential for a vampire’s growth in game. Without powers others do not consider a vampire very strong. Powers are acquired through quest given to the vampire by a guild. There are 6 different guild types in the city but over all 18 different guilds. This is because most powers have three levels, obtained from 3 guilds. Guild move every four days so they can, sometimes, be tricky to track down. The guilds move on the 1st, 6th, 10th, 14th, 19th, 23rd, and the 27th of each month. They can be located by buying a drink from a tavern, and listening to the gossip the bartender can give, but this is not the most effective way and could take hours and many coins to squeeze the right information out of the barkeeper. Don’t let this dampen your spirits; you can view the patient work of others at the COVE where information such as guild locations is often posted. Again, another helpful site is A View in the Dark; here you can find lists of guild locations as well as shops and any hunters that other members of the game have come across. You also have the option of buy your powers from RavenBlack. This is a legitimate option, and is a route that many people take. It is not overly expensive and is done through PayPal. For information on this check out the FAQ's on the Vampires! A Dark Alleyway site, or read our guide.

Perception allows a vampire to identify a vampire hunter before you enter their square by turning the word ‘Human’ green with a black background as warning. It also allows you to see if a vampire is carrying a large amount of coins (over 100) – the word (rob) becomes yellow to show so. You only have the option to rob them, however, if you also have at least one level of thievery. There is one level of Perception.
Charisma has many uses. You get a discount in shops (C1 3%, C2 7%, C3 10%) and pubs (C1 10%, C2 20%, C3 30%), and it takes less AP to ask a human for directions. With each level the discount increases. There are three levels of Charisma
Surprise allows you to enter a blue square (blue squares being ones that have too many occupants, usually between 8 and 14 vampires in it at once). If there are fourteen vampires, however, even Surprise won’t get you in. There is one level of Surprise.
Locate helps you find the location of a vampire. Locate 1 will only tell you the distance of squares, while Locate 2 will give you the distance and the direction. Locate 3 tells you the exact location. The reason Locate 3 is not required for Fully Powered status because Locate 2 is more useful than Locate 3 when looking for a vampire in shadows, and many opt not to quest for the third level. There are three levels of Locate.
Suction enables a vampire to drain more blood in one bite. Typically when you bite a vampire you gain one blood pint, but with suction you will gain two. The maximum you can gain from a human is normally three, but a vampire with suction can gain up to four. There is one level of Suction.
Stamina increases the amount of AP normally available to you. Each level of Stamina increases the amount by ten. It also assists by providing resistance against Scrolls of Turning (S1 25%, S2 50%, S3 75%) and vials of holy water. Without any levels of stamina, all Scrolls of Turning move you and take 10 BP. There are three levels of Stamina.
Battlecloak is not necessary for not required for Fully Powered status. A Battlecloaked vampire can only be harmed by another Battlecloaked vampire. Likewise, wearers cannot harm other vampires that are not cloaked. Once a cloaked vampire’s blood drops to 10 BP they automatically go into Torpor and cannot attack or be attacked by anyone until they reach 250 BP. The cloak can be removed one time, but if it is donned once more after being removed once you cannot take it off again. A Battlecloaked vampire’s name will appear in blue. A clanned vampire should ask their superiors whether or not Battlecloaking is advised. There is one level of Battlecloak.
Neutrality is another power that is unnecessary for Fully Powered status. It offers resistance from Scrolls of Turning and reduces damage done by holy water. When a neutral vampire is robbed, the original total of the robbery is cut in half. This power disables your vampire from harming others with Scrolls of Turning and Holy Water, your robbing of others is also cut in half, and coins cannot be transferred to non-neutral vampires. This power can be removed, but for a price. Neutral vampires names appear in a pink-red color. Many clans do not encourage having the powers of Neutrality. There are three levels of Neutrality.
Thievery is an essential power and works to your benefit by enabling you to rob from other vampires. The first level allows you a 25% chance to successfully rob 25% of someone's coins, the second has a 50% chance to rob 50%, and the final level gives you a 75% chance to rob 75%. There are three levels of Thievery.
Shadows is a power that is most often utilized in times of attack. By remaining in a square for a certain period of time, your vampire will disappear from other’s view. With Shadows 1 your will vanish into Shadows and not appear to inhabit the box you are in. Shadows 2 takes one day, while Shadows 3 only a day will allow your vampire to disappear. Deep Shadows is reached after not moving for four days, and your vampire becomes safe from both garlic spray and holy water attacks. On the offensive, however, with Shadows 3 a vampire can throw two garlic sprays in a single attack. There are three levels of Shadows.
Celerity allows you to regain your AP faster. Once you hit your limit there is a certain period of time you must wait before you can move again – this time is decreased by each level of Celerity. The normal waiting period is thirty minutes, and each level decreases that amount of time by five minutes. There are three levels of Celerity.
Telepathy gives you the power to contact another vampire without having to be in the same square as them (and for roleplay purposes, eliminates the use of telephones, email, etc). Instead, all you need to know is the IGN of the vampire you want to contact. Each level of Telepathy makes it less costly to contact other vampires. The amount varies on whether or not your vampire is related to the vampire you wish to contact. If you are related Telepathy 1 will cost five AP with each message, Telepathy 2 will cost three AP, and Telepathy 1 is only one AP. If this is not the case and your vampires are not in the same bloodline Telepathy 1 will cost ten AP, Telepathy 2 will cost six, and Telepathy 3 will cost two. There are three levels of Telepathy.
Second-Sight enables you to see any other vampire's BP, powers and lineage. It also protects your vampire from being deleted (which usually happens after two weeks of complete inactivity). IT CANNOT BE QUESTED FOR.

TIPS:[/size] Always wait until you have the AP necessary to move from the bank to the guild, plus two AP – one to withdraw and one to deposit at the guild. It is smartest to travel to the bank closest to the guild location before withdrawing the necessary coin. Once you've got the coin, run like Hell! The Peacekeepers Missions The Peacekeeper Mission Guilds do no move and are located at:
Peacekeeper Mission 1: Emerald and 67th Peacekeeper Mission 2: Unicorn and 33rd Peacekeeper Mission 3: Emerald and 33rd
Neutrality
This power consists of three levels and designates your vampire as "non-violent." Neutrality though not sought out by most vampires does provide a good shield if you wish for you vampire not to be attacked. However with each level you attack power as well as others decreases, so if you wish for your vampire to join in on fights then Neutrality is not for you.
No Neutrality: SoT/HW against you have full effect and you may use both. Neutrality 1: SoT/HW against you have less effect. You can use them, but they will not do as much damage as usually. Neutrality 2: SoT/HW against you have little effect. You can use them, but they will not do as much damage as usually. Neutrality 3: SoT/HW against you are nearly worthless. You can use them, but they will not do as much damage as usually.
Cost Neutrality 1: 10000 coins Neutrality 2: 10000 coins + 500 BP Neutrality 3: 10000 coins + 1000 BP
Battle Cloak Other vampires with a Cloak can only attack a vampire with a Battle Cloak. Vice-versa, a cloaked vampire can only attack another cloaked vampire. Battle cloaks may seem like a good idea at first but they come at a high price. A battle cloak costs a lot to remove and can only be removed once. The cost for removing the cloak is 50,000 coins and 250 BP
Cost 2,000 coins to buy
Second-Sight Second-sight is different from all other powers; you do not get it in a guild - the only way to get Second-sight is by donating 5 dollars to RavenBlack.
Second-sight enables you to see any other vampire's BP, powers and their lineage. Coupled with different Levels of Locate it also tells you the location of the vampire you are currently examining.
Second-sight also protects your vampire from being consumed by shadows. Usually your vampire is deleted after three weeks of complete inactivity. This does not happen once you have made a donation.
