Deletion
Having donated does not give you immunity to being deleted for cheating, spamming, or other breaches of the rules. It does, however, keep your vampire from being deleted due to inactivity.
An account left unused for 2-3 weeks that hasn't been donated for will be automatically deleted. Also, if several people wish to play from the same computer, limits may apply which can be avoided by donating.
There are two ways a vampire can be deleted. First: If an account that hasn't donated for has been inactive for three consecutive weeks, their vampire is completely eradicated from the database. There is no way to get such a vampire recovered, there are no records stored of vampires deleted in this manner.
The other way a vampire can be deleted is for cheating (in IC terms, jailed); in these cases, the vampire is not actually stricken from the database, but rather the account is locked. This happens when a player creates several vampires and uses them as a group, pools resources or ganging up on other vampires, or one of several other things considered cheating. If this has been done in error, it is possible for a vampire to be reinstated without penalty, but it's not likely - it's usually pretty obvious when it's cheating and when it's not.
Things considered cheating:
Cloning:
What is cloning and why is it considered cheating?
There are two acts which are referred to as cloning.
The first is siring other vampires without actually inviting additional players, by simply signing up several vampires oneself, or getting one friend to sign up several vampires. If one does this for the blood bonus, this is called cloning, and will be penalized.
The other form of cloning is when a single player controls several vampires, and uses them as a team in any way. "Acting as a team" includes - but is not limited to - occupying a square to capacity, pooling resources, ganging up on other players and 'combined robbing' (where if one vampire finds a rich target for thievery, and the clones also immediately rob the same target).
Clones (multiple vampires controlled by a single player, also called alts or thralls) are allowed, provided that they do not act as a team. Your in-game accounts are not allowed to have any interaction at all.
The penalties for disallowed cloning activities vary based on the severity of the offense and how clearly the evidence points to clones being in use. If the evidence strongly indicates clones then all but one of the vampires in question will be deleted, and the remaining one penalized in blood, coin or objects to, at an absolute minimum, the amount gained from the cloning activities.
Note: if several people are playing from the same computer they may be detected as clones; thus it is best if players sharing a computer also avoid acting as a team. Donating to the game's creator for your vampires is also recommended because non-donated clones can sometimes be automatically detected and deleted.
Spamming
Spamming your link on forums, guest books, and IRC servers will result in your vampire being deleted. Spamming is considered cheating and bad mannered.
Links on a page over which a player has sole control are not spam - Quizilla page links, or links in the writer's own journal, for example, are perfectly valid.
The Hit Limit
There is a daily limit on the game of 120 hits per day.
If you go over that amount then you will be logged out and unable to enter the game for 24 hours. If you donate real money and not game coins to Ravenblack then this hit limit will be removed for you.
There are other ways to get rid of this hit limit but those are cheating, and only the donating way is the legitimate way. It may seem minor, but you can get an account deleted for going around the hit limit.
Password Hacking
It goes without saying that hacking someone’s password is cheating.
If you are simply looking after a vampire for someone, and they willingly gave you their password then that is fine; however if you acquire the password through any other means and you log in as their vampire then you are definitely cheating (and perhaps committing an illegal act too).
The Manipulation Of Url's
In the past Url's have been manipulated so people have been able to jump into blue/full squares without the power of Surprise, throw fake holy waters at people, teleport without any scrolls, and second-sight without having the actual power of second-sight; any type of Url manipulation is cheating.
*Note: All URL manipulations are no longer available.*
Fake Links
There have been incidents where people have been given a link to click on which leads them to do such things as holy water others, scroll others and even withdraw money from the banks; this is done because they are tricked into clicking the shortcut Url without them knowing they are doing so; this is regarded as cheating and is not allowed in the game.
To Summarize:
If several vampires belonging to the same person act in concert (eg. attacking the same target, collecting money for use by one main vampire or pooling their resources in any other way, even being sired by the same vampire), Raven Black may delete any number of them. That said, a couple of vampires acting fully independently is okay, and will go unnoticed. Don't have one sire the other, don't have them bite/rob the same target, and don't have your vampires exchange coins.
Making lots of vampires for a friend (or an enemy) is also disallowed; the blood they gain will be removed, and the player who creates the false vampires risks their main vampire being deleted.
Good Luck!
